In These Shoes is pruning and saying goodbye to Gosport Street!
Pruning is a horticultural practice involving the selective removal of parts of a plant, but, the term can easily be applied to many area’s of one’s life.
Reasons to prune include removal of an area that is dead, underperforming or in decline, shaping (by controlling or directing growth), improving health, and increasing the quality of the rest of the plant or whatever area of your life you are pruning! Wikipedia.
As I hope most of you will know, In These Shoes always has been primarily a party plan company that also does events, some on line sales and of course, the shop.
We have a great number of regular party hostesses and lots of new ones and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all you ladies who have hosted parties for me, and to those of you who have purchased through this route, the shop and on line.
In August 2009 we opened the shop in Lymington which in many way has proved a huge success. I have loved and value the relationships which have developed as a result of this area of the business.
However, as with all good business practice it is important to constantly assess what is working well and what could do better.
Having undergone this exercise I have recognised the need to “prune” the business, and I have decided to close the shop in Lymington with immediate effect. I would like to thank all my customers, my suppliers, my staff – Jenny in particular, Sonia and especially my landlords who have been fabulous throughout this process and without whom, the whole thing would have been more difficult.
Parties will remain unaffected and we are taking bookings for this season – although there are only a few dates available, so if you are interested in holding a shoe and handbag party please contact me as soon as possible.

Many thanks,
Sarah
