Lymington to Savile Row!

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Savile Row, Mayfair, W1

It was with mixed feelings that I closed the In These Shoes shop for the last time on Monday evening. Cleared out, cleaned and ready for the new occupants, I could appreciate the great job my husband did when fitting it all out. The lighting, the shelving, the new kitchen, the gorgeous and much admired floor! It seemed huge, shell like and as I stood taking it all in for the last time, I had to smile as I became reminiscent of the shoe parties held in the shop, the buzz as a constant trail of ladies came for their torturous threading appointments by Sonia,  the deals struck with brand representatives, the excitement of our shop draw winners and the fun we’d all had along the way with so many of our customers – young and old – I’d like to thank every one!

New Bond Street, Mayfair

The next morning, up bright and early, spruced up I left my home in the New Forest and navigated oblivious ponies, gangly foals and humungous hairy cows to make my way to the Big City via the train from Brockenhurst! My destination Satoria Restaurant in Savile Row, Mayfair! My invitation from Thomas Eggar Solicitors to a networking lunch with fellow entrepreneurs was timely and a very pleasant distraction. As I navigated Picadilly, Old Bond Street, Burlington Gardens and finally the famous Savile Row I enjoyed the window shopping in Gucci, Todds, Chanel, Tiffany’s, Givenchy and realised how grateful I am to be living here in the UK where I can eat my porridge and prunes to nothing but the sound of an owl hooting, lunch on cuttle fish in black ink, washed down with champagne in the hub of London’s finest and then, after a wonderful, albeit brief stop visiting my daughter on her work placement at Harvey Nic’s, be whisked home by high speed train to make my gruelling kettlebell session in my garden with Jus Hobbs from Maxfit  and the gals! What a day!

I’m for believing the next stage of my life’s journey will be more Savile Row than Gosport Street!

In These Shoes is pruning and says goodbye to Gosport Street!

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

In These Shoes is pruning and saying goodbye to Gosport Street!

Pruning is a horticultural practice involving the selective removal of parts of a plant, but, the term can easily be applied to many area’s of one’s life.

Reasons to prune include removal of an area that is dead, underperforming or in decline, shaping (by controlling or directing growth), improving health, and increasing the quality of the rest of the plant or whatever area of your life you are pruning! Wikipedia.

As I hope most of you will know, In These Shoes always has been primarily a party plan company that also does events, some on line sales and of course, the shop.

We have a great number of regular party hostesses and lots of new ones and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all you ladies who have hosted parties for me, and to those of you who have purchased through this route, the shop and on line.

In August 2009 we opened the shop in Lymington which in many way has proved a huge success. I have loved and value the relationships which have developed as a result of this area of the business.

However, as with all good business practice it is important to constantly assess what is working well and what could do better.

Having undergone this exercise I have recognised the need to “prune” the business, and I have decided to close the shop in Lymington with immediate effect. I would like to thank all my customers, my suppliers, my staff – Jenny in particular, Sonia and especially my landlords who have been fabulous throughout this process and without whom, the whole thing would have been more difficult.

Parties will remain unaffected and we are taking bookings for this season – although there are only a few dates available, so if you are interested in holding a shoe and handbag party please contact me as soon as possible.

For further information, or simply a chat, please contact me at sarah@intheseshoes.co.uk.

Many thanks,

Sarah

Shop draw winner!

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

Elaine Harrington’s name was pulled from the draw this week and we look forward to welcoming her in store to spend her winnings!

We’d had a bit of a rest on this over the winter period, and only started this again when our party season began during the third week of March. Thus, the winnings were not quite as high as normal, but Elaine still has £33.00 to come and spend in store along with the option of a free pedicure from Riverside Spa in Lymington! – Time to work on those feet ladies!! Legs and toes will soon be bare!

Elaine has kindly agreed to let us take her picture when she comes in to choose her shoes and we’ll keep you posted!

Barcelona – eat your heart out!

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Val, our party hostess last night, had recently been on a shoe shopping trip to Barcelona – and come back disappointed that she found nothing that suited.

At her shoe party last night, I went along as a guest. It was good to see the whole shoe party experience from that perspective. Jenny presented Val’s party and I’m sure was nervous at having me in her audience. No need tho’ – she was great.

Thank you Val – fab party – lovely lot of ladies and good sales too. Hope you enjoy your four pairs of shoes – who needs Barcelona when In These Shoes is here?!
